About blog

I really enjoyed the experience of writing in a blog because since I entered this shop I just wrote things for the academy. In journalism we only write news, reports, research, etc. With themes that teachers sometimes choose.
That's why I liked to take a blog to talk about other topics, practice the language (I did not do it from school) and share reflections with my classmates from journalism and  Cine
I feel that my writing skills have improved a lot, because I usually only read English but writing is something I did not do long ago. At the beginning of the semester it was very slow, but now I can do it faster because I remember more words.
In the future I would like to write about international or music topics, besides learning everyday words in English but not dictionaries. For example, learn the short words that are used in memes.

Finally, I think
finding writing on subjects that are not so academic was an excellent experience.

JGM and doggos

In 2015 i studied in the Universidad de Concepción so, I don’t kwon how big is Juan Gómez Millas –jajaja-
The crisis is real and we all feel it. I think we have the privilege of studying in a good university but we must never forget those who can’t access to this place just for money.
JGM’ student talk a lot and act just a little bit and that was wrong. It has no logic.
The sense of the little commitment of this carrer, because in journalism the ego always comes first and with that thought you can't move forward
Personally I don’t like Juan Gómez Millas. I think it's too big and messy. People do not care about taking care of their spaces because they do not feel their own.
The faculties seem to be “stuck with other without harmony or logic and there are no trees and grass to stay and rest of the class.

I just love all the doggos that are around here.

Violeta Parra

Violeta Parra  was a songwriter, folklorist, ethnomusicologist and visual artist. She was born in San Fabián de Alico, near Chillán, Ñuble Province.
She pioneered the Nueva canción chilena, a renewal and a reinvention of Chilean folk music which would extend its sphere of influence outside Chile
Among her most popular songs are Gracias a la vida, Volver a los diecisiete. She took her music to many parts of the world and this year is very important because is her centenary.
I love Violeta because I grew up in Ñuble so I could feel all the love and power of the Parras's influence in art, music, dance, etc. Violeta is an example of strength, talent and passion with her protest songs

Violeta was a poor rural girl who earned the respect of all with her talent and represents the power of all the rural women who fight every day against inequities of class and gender and centralism.

Gracias a la vida that gave us Violeta

The power of women

When I studied sociology I learned to see the world "outside", with the rigor of the sciences, but that was not the real world.  I needed to participate with concrete actions to change the world.
Then, when I entered Journalism, I felt I could organize and participate with contributions from communications very effectively to the movement.
Since August of last year, I participated in a radio program of emancipatory propaganda called “Famosa Feminista Local”. From this program we contribute with humor, memory, music, company and information to the movement, but we feel the feminism like a lifestyle, that is to say, ideas and actions we do every day throughout the day.
Sometime I felt that feminism ruined my life, but I always believe in love and solidatity between women so I feel with hope about the future and new generation.
The power of women is amazing and I feel like a real change is coming.

Chillán in Santiago

This photo is very special for me because I took it this weekend at the Teatro Cariola in Santiago Centro during the All Dance International Chile 2017.
I was using my new camera for the first time and the girls in the photo are from Chillán, like me.
Noelia and Sofia dance at Alejandra Jara Academy, as one of my best friends from the school with which I now share my apartment in Santiago.
Alejandra Jara Academy took all the awards and will now represent Chile in Panama
I feel very happy for the girls, I could see their effort and I have known them since they were little.

The competition was very hard and really, coming from the south to dance, following a passion is really exciting for the dancers and for the spectators.

This photo is special because it is a piece of Chillán, the mountain, the field and my house that came to Santiago.

Revenge is a dish best served cold” Kill bill, 2001

This movie is probably one of my favorite of all time, and the second one is even better. I love Kill Bill because the protagonist is a fierce, independent and strong woman who decides to take revenge against Bill, a very mysterious man.
Kill Bill Vol 2. is the immediate continuation of the Vol. 1
Both films were written and directed by Quentin Tarantino and both have an excellent cast.

When I was younger, Los 80’s from Canal 13 was my favorite series. And now, I count every day that I  need to see again Orange is the new black. I know about the hackers but I want see it with the subtitles in Spanish and in high definition.

My favourite pieces of technology

I had my first smartphone when I went to college, before that, I only used a phone to call and sometimes send text messages. For me it was all a discovery of the proximity of globalization, before I felt that I lived in a "bubble", not in Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
I use my phone all day and I feel bad if I do not have a battery because I feel that many things can happen and I will not be aware.

I like my phone because it is small in comparison to others and all the functions are okay to me, it is enough.

I think my life would be no so much different except for Google Maps in Santiago because that app has saved me many times. Also it helps me being connected with the things of the university and my profession.

Why did I choose this career?

I chose journalism because I think it is a very diverse career and it fulfills many of my interests.
When I was little I was watching television with my family and the people who read the news seemed very interesting and especially intelligent because I thought that everything they were reading was because they knew about it, not that it was a teamwork, reporting and things of the “real life”.
In 2015 I was studying Sociology in the Universidad de Concepción for one year and I left the career because I didn’t feel comfortable with the focus of the career’s program because this was so much methodological and I didn’t want to be an investigator.

I would like to work in a magazine, I love the written journalism. My experience in Santiago has been nice in general and very rewarding in my career.

Arabic Foodb

The last time I did something new… during the weekend I ate arabic food for the fist time. I was visiting the Barrio Franklin in Santiago Centro with my mom who came from the south to see me. The arabic food has a stronger flavor and many condiments. I liked so much because some meals don’t have meat and the preparation of vegetables is delicious.
